Dr . Sarfraz Ahmad and Zulfiqar Ali visited Dr. Muhammad Rizwan at PBI (Punjab Bioenergy Institute), the University of Agriculture, Faisalabad (UAF) with a clear purpose: to explore and advance how agricultural and other organic wastes can be converted into usable energy.
During their visit, they toured the Bio-Energy Lab and engaged in a discussion aligned with the recently signed Memorandum of Understanding (MoU), focusing on the “waste-to-energy” pathway. Their agenda included:
-
Exploring how farm residues, animal manure and household/ institutional organic waste can be transformed into biogas, heat, electricity or compost.
-
Identifying the key gaps in the current system – feedstock collection, process technology, cost viability and market linkages.
-
Mapping a collaboration framework under the “Terra Spark” initiative: harnessing the land’s resources (terra) and converting them into impactful energy (spark).
In simple terms: they came with the goal of turning waste into value and left with a shared roadmap of how to begin that journey together.
